I'm so glad you're here!
I'm Molly, the creator of Color My Monday. I've been teaching elementary art in North Carolina for 9 years and I absolutely love what I do! I feel so fortunate to have a career that’s so meaningful, purposeful & fulfilling... buuut we all have those days when we don’t want to wake up early, those Sunday night blues because the weekend is over and Monday’s just a few hours away. It’s easy to get swept up in the negativity of Monday dread, to be grumpy because all you want is a couple more hours in your cozy bed.
My Mondays start with a classroom full of kindergarteners who are eager to get their little hands on the art supplies and start creating. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to work grumpy but after spending 40 minutes with 20 five year olds, my mindset is completely shifted. I get to witness the purest form of human interaction and creativity & it’s just so heartwarming and beautiful.
A couple of years ago our little town, tragically and suddenly lost a young girl who had the most promising future ahead of her. Since then, when I get the Monday grumps, I think of her... how much she would have loved to wake up on Monday morning, go to school and do all of the things Monday brings with it.
I chose to name my YouTube channel Color My Monday for this reason. Mondays get a bad rap but I’m making the conscious effort to choose gratitude, grace, compassion & joy.
My hope is to inspire creativity and a love for art in all ages. While I create my lessons for my elementary students, I don't like to label them by age or grade level because, really, anyone can do them and enjoy a creative moment!
This is a resource for teachers, parents and kids! With minimal supplies, students can learn about artists/art concepts and create beautiful works of art on their own. Whether you're a teacher, a parent or both, please feel free to use my videos as an art education tool for the kids in your life!
